Ugandans across Kampala spent part of Monday night watching the skies as the country witnessed its first major political drone show ahead of President Yoweri Museveni’s swearing-in ceremony tomorrow. Although the display was scheduled for 8pm, the drones only lit up the skyline over Naguru Hill about 25 minutes later in a roughly 14-minute showcase organized by the NRM Secretariat. The show featured fireworks, messages highlighting government milestones in sectors such as health, education, ICT and Parliament, and a giant portrait of Museveni in his signature Chikofira look. The aerial display also carried a “thank you” message from the President-elect and invited Ugandans to attend the inauguration at Kololo Ceremonial Ground

s Ugandans question how swiftly security agencies identified the suicide bomber in Munyonyo, Col. Chris Magezi says a suspect arrested two days earlier,still in custody, revealed an ADF plot to attack the Munyonyo Basilica, leading to the rapid identification and elimination of Aisha Katushabe, a.k.a. Byaruhanga Sumaya or Kabonesa. Magezi adds that Katushabe was linked to her late husband, Musafaru, and was the daughter of Abdu Shakur, the ADF collaborator who blew himself up at CPS in 2021.
