I recently watched Madonna in an interview where she said she really wanted this gig, and I don’t blame her—who wouldn’t? But I wish she hadn’t. Madonna has always delivered HIGH energy and wowed crowds. She set the standard for CREATIVITY for decades. Yesterday’s performance WAS NOT IT. It was LOW ENERGY and seemed CLUMSY. In many ways, the World Cup in the USA has given people the freedom to feel what they needed: frivolity, kinship, and escape from stupid politics.
