This new USCIS memo is outrageous. A mass “re-interview” of every refugee admitted between Jan 2021–Feb 2025, plus a freeze on all pending green-card applications. This wasn’t announced during a work week. They dumped it during Thanksgiving week, hoping no one would notice.

Protests have been erupting at CAS in Doha. People are upset that the United States Government flew people who helped our U.S. mission in Afghanistan to Doha and have abandoned them there. At home and abroad, the government is betraying our allies.

Today, the Trump administration increased the FY2026 refugee ceiling by 10,000 slots reserved for Afrikaners from South Africa. At the same time, Afghan allies remain shut out of every pathway built for people who served alongside the United States.

This is about refugees only, not SIVs. 300 Afghans would NOT be a win. We need the number to be commensurate with the need. It’s not too late — if we push, we can make this better.

Friends, I don't think Secretary Kristi Noem checked with Chairman Brian Mast regarding whether or not Afghanistan is safe before ending #TPS. It's not. I'm grateful for his having convened this roundtable last year. I hope to see him coming out swinging on this issue like he did then.
