It’s so satisfying when a printing session works, (it often doesn’t 😊), when the background comes out right and the tree plate prints well, without bits of ink in the wrong places, and the ink behaves and doesn’t smother the white marks I’ve carved.

Renewal pinging off the press. It’s a tough one to print - too much ink or pressure and the little marks disappear, too little and the colour is patchy. A sky colour will be added later.

I haven’t had much time for printing lately, and this was the first go in the studio in my new house. Such a delight after months in a utility room, where winding a print through the press blocked the door, and previously flat surfaces seemed to have developed hollows. 😁

Two advance copies of my book arrived the other day. I’m delighted with it. My prints have reproduced beautifully. It’s been a long road to get to this point so it’s a relief and delight that it’s all turned out well. Trees in Winter can be preordered here

My book is officially published today! There are so many things I love about it: the gorgeous endpapers and the useful and beautiful index of prints at the back, the quality of the paper and the reproduction of my prints. It’s on sale in all the usual places. #treesinwinter
