Why the open ending of Hanuman Ansh may be the film’s most meaningful choice! Many viewers of Hanuman Ansh may leave with an unusual feeling: the film seems to stop rather than end. Neem Karoli Baba’s story appears unfinished. There is no conventional portrayal of his samadhi, no final farewell, and no neat resolution telling the audience exactly what to think. For a biographical film, that can feel abrupt. We expect closure: a final scene, a last lesson, and certainty that the story is complete. But perhaps that is precisely what the film refuses to provide. Neem Karoli Baba’s life cannot be understood merely as the biography of a man who lived, gathered disciples, and then passed into history. For those who know him as Maharaj Ji, samadhi is not the end of the relationship between guru and devotee. The visible body may no longer be present, but grace, remembrance, teaching, and presence are understood to remain. That may be why the film leaves the viewer with an open door rather than a closed chapter. The ending is not necessarily a weakness in storytelling. It may be the film’s spiritual point. A skeptical viewer may see Baba’s final presence as memory, longing, emotion, or the inner experience of a devotee. A believer may understand it as Baba’s continuing grace, arriving at the moment it is needed. The film does not force either reading. It leaves the viewer to decide. This is fitting because Maharaj Ji’s legacy is not fundamentally about miracles. It is about a way of life: love all, serve all, feed all, remember God. These teachings become meaningful only when lived. They are present when someone feeds a hungry person, cares for a sick patient, comforts a grieving family, protects the vulnerable, or helps another person without expecting recognition. Neem Karoli Baba was deeply associated with Hanuman. Hanuman is not simply a figure from the Ramayana. He represents selfless service, courage, humility, devotion, protection, and strength used for the good of others. Hanuman appears wherever Ram is remembered and wherever help is needed. The title Hanuman Ansh, meaning an aspect or portion of Hanuman, points toward this idea. If the film asks whether Baba’s presence continues, it also asks where Hanuman’s work continues now. The answer cannot be only in temples or devotional songs. It must be in service: in those who care for the sick, fight disease, teach children, assist the elderly, comfort suffering people, and quietly work for others. Perhaps the knock at the door is meant for every viewer. “Darwaza khol,” meaning “open the door,” may be an invitation to open the inner door to faith, courage, service, and remembrance. The story does not end because it is still being lived. It continues whenever compassion defeats indifference and whenever service is offered without any expectations for returns. 11th century murthy of Vishnu and what it tells us? Just came to know a murthy which was dumped in the river to prevent Razakaars harming it resurfaced in the Krishna River along with Shiva Linga. It is important for Hindus to understand the significance. Vishnu's murthy has prabhavali which has avatars as you can see. Matsya, Kurma, Varaha, Narasimha, Vamana, Parashu Rama, Rama, Krishna, Buddha and Kalki. Since this murthy is from 11th century as per historians who assessed the murthy we can now safely conclude that Buddha has always been an avatar of Vishnu. Also, as I have pointed out earlier, the Bharat natya school floated by Leela Sampson, incorrectly omits Buddha and adds Balarama in his place. That is a missionary mischief like I have written about. It is also stressing the unity needed among Hindus. Vishnu and Maheshwara are together. Please drop all your differences and join as one. Actor here is Dr. Raj Kumar. He practiced yoga and was expert in Pranayama where he could hold the breath up to eight minutes! He did not use any body doubles for the role of pearl harvester in a movie shot near my home in 1986-87. Pearl harvesters often can hold the breath up to 10 minutes while searching for pearls under the water. You can see Dr. Raj also using the benefit of Pranayama here.
