Today, we held a virtual meeting with the executive team of Epic Games Store in a working session dedicated to exploring genuine cooperation opportunities and discussing proposals that serve the Algerian gaming community. Both sides agreed to continue discussions in upcoming sessions, on technical and legal levels, in order to turn these proposals into a joint roadmap that benefits both parties and makes the gaming experience in Algeria truly exceptional.

Yesterday, i was pleased to convene a consultative meeting with key actors of Algeria’s gaming ecosystem developers, associations, content creators, professional players alongside telecom operators. The objective was clear: listen, align, and build the foundations of a structured and competitive video-game industry in Algeria. This year, we will launch Fiber Game, Algeria’s first major national e-sports and gaming event, to position our country on the continental and international gaming map, attract global players, and unlock local talent. Starting February 5, Algérie Télécom will upgrade its Fiber Gamers offer, delivering higher speeds, improved quality of service, and lower latency. Africa’s gaming market reached $1.8B in 2024 and is expected to exceed $3.5B by 2027–2029. Our ambition is clear: capture 10% of this market by 2028, or $400M, and place Algeria among the leaders of this fast-growing sector. Gaming is not just entertainment. It is jobs, innovation, exports, and digital sovereignty.

As part of my meetings with global leaders in the gaming industry, we conducted a session with the editors of PUBG MOBILE and major digital and OTT services such as WeChat. The meeting concluded with agreements on key priorities, including but not limited to: Creating a safe and responsible gaming environment tailored to Algerian society, with stronger parental-control mechanisms. Adapting content to national culture, and the company’s readiness to deploy local servers in Algeria for the first time by the near future. Allowing in-game payments in Algerian currency through prepaid cards, vouchers and digital paiement plateforms. The company also expressed interest in supporting gaming-community events and developing future partnerships to enhance the gaming experience and strengthen the local gaming industry in the country.
