"first of all, while i was preparing, i always thought that the olympics were a tournament full of unexpected events. so, i considered and prepared for every possible variable, no matter how small. that's one of the reasons why i kept playing without getting any rest despite my injuries. i wanted to be ready for any unexpected variable, so i didn't skip a single day of training, even practicing early in the morning, i wanted to be prepared for anything. my method might have been wrong, but i think this was a chance to prove myself so... i feel good (that it's proven). also about the athletes not being able to compete in the olympics just because they're leaving the national team... i think it's a bit heartless for the them. i think in badminton, singles and doubles are completely different, and i believe that athlete's injuries or any other qualifications shouldn't lead to them being deprived of their right to compete. however it seems to me that our association is blocking everything. it feels like they're forcing many restrictions under the guise of freedom. i do think badminton could achieve more progress, but the fact that we only won one gold medal is something worth reflecting on."

sungjin sharing his story on day6 10th anniversary documentary 🐻 "for about three years, i didn't talk. i literally didn't say anything except for the things necessary for work. it was pretty much a cycle of only speaking when we were working. there was definitely a period when i resented the members a bit, thinking, "if i were them and i had a member like me, i would have done things this way." up until my 20s, i lived with so much passion. i was always trying to find something to keep my emotions from sinking. i kind of took that role. but after that, i think i became a bit more, calm? should i say? i realized that the kids were definitely filling in the other aspects i couldn't. i had been caring for them in certain aspects, and they, in turn, were caring for me in other ways. realizing this made me so grateful to them. and at the same time it also made me realize "ah, i really am sincere about day6," that's what i thought."
