A private bus operating on the Thrissur–Kozhikode route reportedly killed two Tamil Nadu natives who were crossing the road in Edappal town today. This is especially alarming because two major accidents have already occurred on this route in the past 10 days...one at Kuttippuram and another at Kunnamkulam. Yet the buses seem to be least concerned about speeding and reckless driving. The accident today happened in one of the busiest parts of Edappal town. No bus or any other vehicle should be speeding through such a crowded area. Bus-related accidents are becoming increasingly frequent. Urgent measures are needed before we lose many more innocent lives. @CMOKerala

What Shyam says here is probably the reality for most people today. But I don’t think we should be proud of what’s happening. It’s not just friendships that are falling apart. Families aren’t as close as they used to be either. On my dad’s side, I mostly meet my cousins and relatives only at weddings, funerals or other family functions. My mom’s side of the family used to be really close, especially when my grandparents were around. But after they passed away, even those relationships have slowly started becoming more distant. We’re gradually pushing everyone away ...friends, family, relatives. And I don’t think that’s a good thing. People are becoming increasingly isolated, unhappy and depressed. I genuinely feel that the decline in human interaction is one of the biggest reasons for it. You can find happiness in money, your immediate family, self-love or personal achievements, but I think life will still feel incomplete without meaningful connections with other people. I hope I’m able to reconnect with at least some of the friends I’ve lost. I hope I can make more of an effort. And I hope I can become closer to my family again. Maybe being connected to people is something we shouldn’t have allowed ourselves to forget.
