The radicalization of children through the Bosnian El Mujahideen unit remains one of the darkest and most sensitive legacies of the war. Those Bosniak children grew up in an environment shaped by ideological exclusivity, violence, and the glorification of “Holy War.” Today, they are adults whose worldviews were not formed in peace, but in a climate of conflict and propaganda. The consequences of such upbringing do not simply disappear with time. They echo through persistent divisions, deep mistrust, and the ongoing difficulty of building genuine reconciliation. This is why addressing the issue is not about revisiting the past, but about taking responsibility for the present and the future. Children should never be instruments of any ideology of hatred.
