Lightning struck the ground directly in front of me on Monday morning while I was traveling southbound on Interstate 57 in Illinois. Looks like two strokes, the first one sending a cloud of dirt and debris into the air that I ended up driving through. Could smell it in the car!

A tornado touched down on the Piatt-Champaign County line around 3:20 PM this afternoon, causing damage to several farms and carving a narrow path through the corn. Here's a quick vibe check from the vehicle as the tornado touched down. YouTube video to follow!

90 MPH winds were measured in Peotone as I rode out hurricane force winds that blasted through the southern suburbs of Chicago with embedded tornadoes. Damage was extensive through the Monee-Crete corridor where an apparent tornado touched down. YouTube highlights to follow.

Sipping coffee and slicing through squalls, like we do. Another lovely day for a drive across the Dakotas.
