Been really impressed with Lewis Uvwo of NightrydasElite this weekend. Plays hard, runs the floor and always has a smile on his face. Oh… and he’s probably the best shot blocker in all of EYBL.

Coach Cal praised HPU for flying students out postgame. He added: “Administrations win championships. Coaches win games. In this era of NIL, if you’re not totally into it and they’re not committed, you’re not winning. You just can’t. And High Point is.” Worth the full listen.

Asked Bill Self about some of the character concerns surrounding Tyran Stokes and if the five-star’s misunderstood in that regard. He gave a very thoughtful answer. “He's a great kid. Is he emotional? Yes. Could he be too emotional? Maybe. But he hasn't been with us at any point and I've coached him harder than I have anybody else on the team. All he does is come back for more everyday.”

Rick Pitino: “This was one of the most unique teams I’ve had in 52 years. Never one argument amongst the players… They were willing to do anything to try and win… Never again [will I have a team] with this type of attitude and just incredible people. My heart breaks for them.”

Bill Self on #KUbball’s Big 12 struggles in recent years: “First of all, our league is a b****.” “We’re not bringing pros off the bench… Our Jimmies were better than your Joes… Not any excuse, we got good enough guys, but the margin for error isn’t one where we can let teams believe they can beat you.”

I asked Mark Pope about the $22 million number pinned to Kentucky to start the season, if that affected the team, and if he’s learned anything from a resource allocation standpoint after this season. Here was his response:

Fred Hoiberg with a heartfelt opening statement after Nebraska’s loss to Iowa in the Sweet Sixteen: “These guys will be a part of history of Nebraska basketball forever… They did so many things to elevate our program.” Got choked up at the end when talking about his son.

Fred Hoiberg’s opening statement after Vandy: “We need to find a way to bring Effie the ghost to Houston with us. I think he had a little part in that last play. I’m just very appreciative of these guys. Everybody in that locker room has played a big role in the season.”

Flynn Clayman after High Point’s R64 win: “It's pretty obvious that something needs to be done about this non-conference scheduling... We couldn't get games... If we can get games like this on neutral courts and some home games, I think we'd know who's really the best teams."

What a scene in Lawrence. The Jayhawks, without Darryn Peterson, knock off the No. 1 team in the country. First win ever over No. 1 team in Allen Fieldhouse. What a game. Bill Self with a double fist-pump to the crowd, who roars back.
