i had to update this list of useless cops after rewatching barbarian (2022)… the pinnacle of incompetence among law enforcement officers in modern horror movies

i love how eggers’ work is deeply inspired by goya’s paintings, and you can see it again in the werwulf trailer; it’s such a rare aesthetic today that the only other modern artist i can think of who truly tapped into it is the french singer mylene farmer in her late 80’s videos

this opening should’ve been left untouched in scream 4… i always found it so violent and seeing the pre-production footage without any score makes it feel like some elaborately staged snuff film ! the last house on the left wes craven spirit was in full force here

i never actually paid attention to ghostface’s whispers in this scene from scream 2 but they feel completely ripped out of some older horror movie about a full on mommy issues killer… that "i’ll be good mommy" is so eerie

the 1995 remake of the wasp woman by roger corman is instantly one of my favorite watches of the year: 90’s low-budget erotism meets the beauty-pursuit horror subgenre (a precursor to the substance)
