On July 11, 1999, a random fan named Gylene Hoyle was picked for a Shamrock Farms promo: choose a Diamondbacks player and an exact inning for a grand slam to win $1 million. She called Jay Bell in the 6th inning. Bell delivered, pumping his fist around the bases as he made her an instant millionaire. Hoyle used the cash to buy a new house for her family. The million-dollar swing. 📽️

Fun story about the $1 million homer on July 11, 1999. As part of a promotion the Dbacks had with Shamrock Farms, a fan was chosen at random before Sunday home games to pick a Dbacks player and an inning in which that player would hit a grand slam. Arizona resident Gylene Hoyle picked Jay Bell and the sixth inning, and sure enough, Bell delivered a grand slam in that inning. Bell, who did not show emotion very often on the field, pumped his fist as he rounded the bases because he knew he had won $1 million for a fan.
