Journalists- women and men- walking into the #Afghanistan embassy in Delhi for another press conference by Taliban Min Muttaqi following the last presser row. The original Afghan flag still flutters at the embassy with the Taliban and their black and white flag yet to be recognised. Cannot have gender discriminated press conferences in India- a needed course correction and precedent set for future engagement between Taliban 2.0 and New Delhi.

Early morning flights from Delhi T3 is nightmare! 2nd time in few days-crawling snaking queues-#Digiyatra or non-DigiYatra (am here) doesn’t matter. Entered at 5am, still only half way through queue. Security check now takes anywhere between 30-60 mins for domestic flights.

Report on Youtube- Smita Sharma Journalist #PunjabFloods अमृतसर से 4-4.30 घंटे की ड्राइव के बाद हम पहुँचे फजिलका लगभग ३०० किलोमीटर दूर । पाकिस्तान के सीमावर्ती वाले फजिलका के ज़ीरो लाइन के गाँवों सबसे बुरी तरह प्रभावित हैं। मुख्यधारा की मीडिया में शायद ही यहाँ से रिपोर्टस हैं। पुल सड़क पानी में ध्वस्त हो गए हैं या टूट चुके हैं। एक ही पुल पिछले चार पाँच दिनों में बारिश के रुकने के बाद थोड़ा सा खुला है। लगभग २०-२५ गाँवों कट गए थे। सारे धान के खेत जल मग्न हो गएं। गाँव में ६८ साल के रे़शम सिंह और उनकी ६० साल की पत्नी मन्नू बाइ से बात। बूढ़ी महिला को कुर्सी लगाकर दीवार पर चढ़कर कुछ बचे सामान निकालनी पड रही है क्योंकि घर दलदल बन गया है । रात में सोते वक़्त सांप ऊपर चढ़ जाता है। गरीब का सारा समान ख़त्म । जिस खेत में मजदूरी करते हैं वो ख़त्म। क़र्ज़ पर क़र्ज़ का बोझ। The aftermath of the floods in Punjab as water levels recede, the actual assessments of loss will take time and rebuilding will be a long haul.
