The claim that Dhaka University Muslim students demanded to make the ‘hijab’ mandatory for girls is FALSE. They did not chant any slogan calling for hijab to be made mandatory. Instead, they raised the slogan as a form of protest. In the DUCSU election, there was a candidate named Sabikun Nahar Tamanna, who wears a hijab and niqab. During the election campaign, her photograph on posters was hatefully distorted. This incident is seen as an act of hijabophobia or anti-Muslim bigotry. Sabikun Nahar Tamanna was elected as an executive member in the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) election yesterday by a huge margin. When her victory was announced, the students present chanted “Hijab, Hijab” as a form of protest against the earlier incident. However, propaganda accounts falsely portrayed the chants with a misleading narrative.

Police arrested a Hindu man in connection with the vandalism of idols in Rajbari on October 8. After an investigation and reviewing CCTV footage, the police arrested Ranapada Sarker, who is intellectually disabled, in connection with the vandalism, where the idols were slightly damaged. According to the police, during interrogation, he confessed to accidentally damaging the idols while collecting puja flowers that morning. Out of curiosity, he entered the pandal, collided with the Ganesha idol, and unconsciously touched and damaged other idols.

A few days ago, Indian media published an interview with a Hindu woman from Narail, Bangladesh, who had traveled to India to attend a wedding.
