Belonging to a suite of 12 towering canvases that Basquiat painted in 1983, ‘Museum Security (Broadway Meltdown)’ stands among the most significant and complex works works of ever created by the artist. Sotheby’s Oliver Barker celebrates a white-glove Modern & Contemporary Evening Auction at #SothebysLondon. White gloves are traditionally given to an auctioneer after a sale achieves 100% of lots sold. The evening kicked off The London Sales, with over 300 people watching as the sale achieved a total of £131 million. The highlight of the night was Masterpieces from The Lewis Collection, with a total of £35 million. Works by #ConstantinBrancusi, #AlbertoGiacometti, #FrankAuerbach and #AnselmKiefer also shined.
