Earlier today, the crew from Tower 18 responded to a motor vehicle accident on C-470. Two people were transported from the scene for medical care, but they weren’t the only passengers involved. Two dogs were also in the vehicle and, thankfully, they were not injured. The Tower 18 crew brought them back to the station where they’re currently being treated like VIPs (Very Important Pups) while we work to get them reunited with family.

Multiple agencies from the Denver Metro area, including SMFR were at Centennial Airport to welcome and stand in support of Firefighter/Engineer David Tysdal, from Coeur d'Alene, Idaho who was injured in a deadly ambush on the Canfield Mountain Fire where two other firefighters were killed. Tysdal was transferred from Idaho to a local hospital to continue his recovery. Four members of the SMFR Wildland Team are deploying to California as part of a strike team to aid in the devastating wildfires on the West Coast. The team left on a Type 3 Brush Engine this evening. Once they arrive, they’ll be given their assignment. “This is why we sign up to be on the Wildland Team, to go out and deploy and hopefully make a difference out there,” said Firefighter Hildebrandt. #smfr #southmetrofirerescue
