oof...Shane Gillis's very awkward SNL opening monologue included him calling women whores for wearing shorts at the gym + an anecdote about using Joe Rogan's personal sauna, in which Theo Von said he "looked like a gas station egg" he ended the monologue by saying "you're either gay or you're Hitler, and isn't that where we're at as a country?" which kinda confused the audience, so he literally had to say, "hey, that was the monologue, ladies and gentlemen" here's the first joke: "I haven't been to the gym in so long. I didn't know women just dress like whores now. There's no other way to describe it. Have you seen the shorts? The wrinkles go, like, around the cheeks and all combine at the butthole. And don't look. You're not allowed to look."

LOL this whole bit from John Mulaney was so good. I need him to host the Emmys next year "Some of the men in this category do method acting, and some do regular, less annoying acting..." "I believe it was DJ Khaled who said 'real men don't go down on their wives,' but these nominees know that that is B.S. They know there's often less pressure on them if they do that first"

Michael J. Fox was just awarded the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award, which has only been given out 7 times in Emmys history. here's his full speech "Initially, I kept my Parkinson's diagnosis a secret. at least once a week I think about the time Amy Poehler convinced her fellow Emmy nominees to pretend they were in a beauty pageant when their names were called, and every celeb in the audience went wildddd their names were supposed to be announced alphabetically, but Edie Falco was too nervous to go first, so Amy took the lead. Tina Fey had a baby 12 days beforehand and said she was "just happy to be out, wearing a pad on every part of my body." Rob Lowe improvised a line about how "everyone was a winner," and then he crowned Melissa McCarthy with her first Emmy (and a literal tiara), to which she said, "Wow, it's my first and best pageant ever!" award shows in 2011 were so fun lol

this tribute to Catherine O'Hara at the Emmys was soooo sweet wow. and the camera cuts to Martin Short and Steve Martin crying...I'm not okay. her on-screen children Macaulay Culkin, Annie Murphy, and Dan Levy spoke so highly of her Macaulay: "She was encouraging. She was warm. She was funny. But the word that I think of is 'momma.' She was my mom. She was our mom. And by extension, she was all of our mom. She may have forgotten me...twice! But we will always remember her."

And I just want to say that, for us, I think that it's super powerful that our relationship to these characters has nothing to do with being gay, but if it means something to a kid out there somewhere who's like, "Oh, I feel seen in this relationship," that it's important for us to hold that space for these queer icons. lol Olivia Rodrigo just called out Jake Paul during her SNL opening monologue. The two of them acted together on Disney Channel's show Bizaardvark "When I was 13 I was on a Disney show called Bizaardvark. We had an incredible cast, which included acting legend Jake Paul. We'd always talk about our futures, me and Jake. I'd say, 'I really want to create music that explores the complexities of girls my age.' And he'd say, 'Well, one day I really want to beat up old guys on Netflix.' And we both did it! Hurray!"
