On Monday, the Blazers board of Directors have a meeting. And i have no idea what’s going to come out of that meeting. But it could be a declaration of all our war. The city wants the Blazers to sign a lease to get the money to renovate their arena. The quotes about this are tremendous. Brian Windhorst says the Minnesota Timberwolves may be at odds with ownership over Arena renovations: “ Over the last few years, the Minnesota Timberwolves have been losing enormous sums of money. Here’s the problem that the wolves are in. And this is what I’ve said to people in Portland. You have to be careful doing a limited renovation for an arena. There are arenas that have been renovated that are in great condition. but the target center got a renovation about five years ago and it went from being a bottom five arena to a bottom five arena. And so they aren’t in a position to squeeze more money from the owner because they just had a public supported renovation a couple of years ago. Remember the Minnesota Vikings had to threaten to move the team just to get funding for their stadium and they had final fours and Super Bowl’s there. There was even one game, where Lawrence Frank the team president came to watch a game. It is very unusual for a team president to come to another teams game. Brian Windhorst with an update about the Portland Trailblazers relocation drama: “It’s realistic but it’s definitely not a done deal, when the Allen estate sold the team they did a very short lease. Leases are usually 15-20 years, they did a 5 year lease. And there’s almost no protection in the lease for the Blazers to leave. Tom Dundalk isn’t interested in giving any money for this renovation. And it’s a messy one. The last thing i want you to know, earlier this year Adam silver said relocation in the NBA is not on the table. But as you know the nba is looking to expand to Las Vegas and Seattle. Those would be the two markets you’d want to move a team to. But that’s not going to be allowed by the NBA owners. They want to expand there, and get 7-8 Billion dollars for the expansion fee. Seattle and Las Vegas are not options. Max Kellerman Deems Jalen Brunson better than Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: “SGA and Jalen Brunson play the same position, modern NBA, pick and roll, foul baiting point guards. They both have the same team. San Antonio deployed, the same defensive scheme to stop that guy it worked on SGA. SGA is a great player of course.
