I’ve simply never seen anything like it in my life. The city is bunged, rammed to the gills with music and everyone’s so feckin happy. On our pop-up pub tour I liked Lavery’s in Chapel Lane best. An unforgettable event.

1. Here’s how the PSNI policed my son and his friends in an entirely peaceful Cliftonville crowd at Boucher today. 2. Here’s how the PSNI policed a UVF show of strength in East Belfast. The name and the uniform have changed. What else?

Post-rush-hour you can see the amount of people - schoolkids and workers mostly on their way to public transport - risking their safety by staying on the pavement because it’s too dark to walk on the clear road - as I am here. When cars matter more than people something’s wrong.

I can’t believe it. The Orangemen at Drumcree stopped me from walking the King’s highway. To his eternal credit, Eddie the Legal (seen in the background) saved my bacon. He also called me a balloon, like. But a favour’s a favour. Feel like cryin, actually.

Balls on the Falls just now. Westlink partially blocked by fire on Village side, which is now deserted. Youths on Falls side smashing traffic lights and bricking vehicles, including Fire Service car and car transporter with full load of new vehicles.

You’d think it would be difficult to turn a new start for young families on a gorgeous spring day into a grim sectarian mess, but Lisburn has managed it. Christ almighty. How pathetically insecure is it possible to be?

Does anybody know, does anybody care, about the extent of the fear people are living in in Ballymena? Do we now forget the black and brown people - and locals - living under this terror because the flames are out? The extent of this is jawdropping. Grim, depressing, shameful.

Here’s my question about free speech for Gazan journalists for The Free Speech Union tonight. I wasn’t allowed to film the answer, which was a bit un-free speechy. If I can précis the answer, it was that it’s complicated and some say some of the journalists weren’t journalists. I know…

In Bangor today for the model railway show at City Church. The town is virtually dead. The bottom half of Main Street heading towards the water is a wasteland. The MP, MLAs and councillors should hang their heads. Absolutely grrrrrrim on a Saturday in the festive season.

No wrens. No birds, in fact. Heartbreaking how things have changed in such a short space of time. But who cares, eh? Long as we get to drive around a massive car park five times at Christmas looking for a parking spot.
