2 weeks back, I rewatched Kaakki Sattai. Ever since, there’s been only one song running on my playlist 24×7. Or to be more precise, one interlude. The interlude preceding the first charanam in Vaanile Thenila. Gosh, enna maari oru velai paadu Raja sir! What the hell is that guitar solo man! Otherrrrworldllyyy!! The beauty lies in how the interlude sets up the charanam, yet the interlude itself is divided into 3 parts, each setting up the next. Starts with a violin orchestra that leads into that outtttrageous guitar solo, which flows into that rrridiculous flute solo, which finally sets up the charanam making SPB go, 'Vaanam paadum paadal naanum ketkiren.' Gosh! What an emotional rollercoaster the whole stretch, not a single wasted second!! Mesmerising. Hypnotising. Raja rising! 👑

Singularly the greatest stretch of all time? If you ask to define Kamal's peak acting in one scene, all would pick Nayagan, Anbe Sivam, Moondram Pirai, etc (all worthy choices). But for me, I'll pick this one. Brutal. Intense. Pulse pounding. Suspenseful. Heart beat racing. A psychological masterclass. The sheer despair, guilt, fear, helplessness Aadhi conveys through just his eyes, his trembling voice, his broken body language, his choice of words keeping on repeating DIG NARAYANASAMY IS UNREALLL. He’s trying to protect his friend but deep down, he knows he’s done for. The way he expresses the INEVITABILITY & HOPELESSNESS in just a minute through sheer body language! SIMPLY BREATHTAKING! Badri: Operation Incharge yaaru? (Aadhi immediately looks at Abbas with guilt) Aadhi: DIG Narayanasamy. Badri: No, correct per enna? Aadhi: Adhaan. DIG.. Narayanasamy.. (note guilty body language & left hand movement) Aadhi: DIG Narayanasamy.. (Tensed) Badri naa solradhu kelu. BADRI NAA SOLRADHA KELU.. Abbas: NAAN DHAAN! It's me. Aadhi: No. No. Abbas.. ABSOLUTELY LOVING #Theekkoluthi. Nivas Prasanna smacks it out of the park, singing Mari's supremely powerful lyrics with full heart & soul. Dhruv Vikram pinraan with his body language & dance, his physique makes him look like an actual Bison. Experiencing the song has been IMMERSIVE. What a ripper of a composition. Highly recommend for all music lovers. Good headphones are a must! 🎧

Aandavar going berserk in the charanams of Pottu Vaitha Kadhal Thittam. 'Kaveri alla, anai pottu kolla indha kaadhal' itself sits at a higher pitch. But he goes from higher to highest with 'Ketkaadha love song ondru, ketkindra neram indru vaa vaaaaaa', while still being flawless. Absolute bonkers. No one handles high pitch like Kamal. Even the GOAT SPB has acknowledged it. Aandavar the actor is legendary. Aandavar the singer is criminally underrated & needs more love! 🎙️🔥
