In 1982, before Hezbollah even existed, a brutal massacre took place at the Sabra and Shatila refugee camps in Lebanon. - Right-wing Lebanese Phalange militias killed up to 3,500 Palestinian and Lebanese civilians. - Israeli forces surrounded the camps, provided illumination, and allowed the killings to continue for days. - Women and girls were systematically raped before being murdered. - The UN described it as an act of genocide. - An Israeli commission found Defense Minister Ariel Sharon personally responsible for failing to prevent the slaughter. - Decades later, there has been no justice or accountability for the victims. Such massacres continue even today with the same type of brutality and the same lack of accountability.
