I used to be so afraid that once they stepped out of the pbb house, everything would change. Afraid that Riv would slowly distance himself from Dus because of the hate, just like what others did. Afraid that the friendship they built,would slowly fade away under the weight of judgment and negativity. But seeing them now, my heart is finally at ease. Nothing changed. The friendship is still there, the same care, the same warmth, the same love. Thank you, Rivriv, for loving our Dustin unconditionally. For choosing to stand by him when the world tried to tear him down. For being a safe place, a constant, a reminder that true friendship doesn’t waver under pressure.

I saw a video on the tktk about a wife whose husband was diagnosed with sleep apnea. She said loving someone with this condition is a different kind of love, one filled with pain and fear. Every night, her husband stops breathing. And that’s what scares her the most. For most of us, sleep means rest. But for her, sleep is terrifying. What if she falls asleep What if her husband stops breathing? Who will wake him up? And suddenly, I remembered Dustin. He has the same condition. He was diagnosed with sleep apnea too. Years ago, he decided to undergo surgery. And it hurts knowing how some people turned it into a joke, mocked him, made fun of the decision, as if it was something shallow or unnecessary. But they didn’t understand. He did it for himself. To lessen the fear that comes every time he closes his eyes. To have hope that he’ll wake up tomorrow. He didn’t do it for enhancement. He did it for survival. We don’t know someone else’s struggle. We don’t see the battles they fight in silence. What feels simple to us can be unbearably hard for them. So please, be kind. 💌
