Radio traffic from response to Sen. Graham’s home: Emergency radio traffic indicates that Senator Lindsey Graham suffered chest pains before going into cardiac arrest Saturday night. Efforts to revive the South Carolina lawmaker were not successful. Graham died two days after his 71st birthday. This is the second time within a month that the DC Fire & EMS Department was dispatched to the Capitol Hill home of a Republican U.S. Senator reported to be in cardiac arrest. The first was Senator Mitch McConnell from Kentucky on June 14th. The radio traffic from indicates that the 911 caller last night was a woman in Baltimore. The crew from Engine 7 arrived and could not get anyone to answer the door. They apparently forced entry into the home. The radio traffic gives the impression that Senator Graham may not have immediately been in cardiac arrest when they arrived, but there is no confirmation of that information. Here’s the unofficial timeline for the call: · 8:27:34 Engine 7 and Medic 7 (a paramedic ambulance) were dispatched to Graham’s home on South Capitol Street SE (I’ve omitted the street numbers). · 8:32:34 Engine 7 requested a callback to get someone inside to open the locked front door. · 8:33:34 (timestamp missing on video) Dispatcher reported that the caller said she was not in the home and the door is unlocked. · 8:34:15 Dispatcher reported that the caller asked if they knocked on the door, believing the patient would answer. Engine 7 responded, “Yes. Repeatedly.” · 8:35:05 Dispatcher said the caller is coming from Baltimore. The dispatcher asked Engine 7 if they would like a ladder truck company to force entry and asked about the need for DC Police. Engine 7 said they will need police, but they could handle forcing entry into the home. · 8:53:28 Engine 7 reported CPR was in progress “now” and requested an EMS supervisor (standard on cardiac arrest calls). · 8:54:00 EMS 6, an EMS supervisor, was dispatched. · 9:13:41 Battalion Chief 2 told the dispatcher to attach him to the run with Engine 7 (this is not routine on most cardiac arrest calls and is likely an indication of who the patient was). #lindseygraham #sengraham #firefighters #EMS #capitolhill The Hill Mike Emanuel 🇺🇸 Tom Sherwood Manu Raju The DC Line Scott MacFarlane Jim Acosta Jake Kanter Jake Tapper 🦅 Brian Stelter Paul Farhi Jennifer M. The Great America 250 Smoke Out: For those of us on the south side of the DC fireworks, it started out great. The beauty of it didn't last long on our side. Watch what happens as I speed it up about 40 times. I said to our guests after the initial bursts, "That's not good, the smoke is coming our way." We were soon enveloped in a wall of smoke. Inside, with the windows closed, our eyes started stinging and it smelled. The smoke was visible for quite a while, and you could still smell it outside this morning. We were the unlucky ones this time, with the wind blowing our way. Not a complaint, just thought you'd like to see it. #fireworks #dcfireworks #july4th #weather Capital Weather ARLnow Matthew Young NEWS FROM THE CONCRETE Doug Kammerer Hillary Howard

STATter911 has obtained the original police drone video of that close call 10 days ago, where a pole fell on firefighters at a crash scene in Fairfax County, Virginia. This video is much clearer and provides more context, showing how the truck snagged the low hanging traffic signals. It's a good video for firefighter training. Here's what the Fairfax County Fire & Rescue Department originally shared about the incident: On 8/25 11:31am #FCFRD responded to 2 vehicle crash at Bracknell Dr & Baron Cameron Ave in Reston w/ 1 car into pole. While on scene a passing truck caught hanging electrical wires causing pole to collapse on ambulance. 1 civilian & 1 FF transported non-life-threatening injuries. Clarendon Tonight: The bars of Clarendon are always kind enough to provide job security for Arlington Fire & EMS by making sure they have plenty to do. Within 25 minutes two people, less than a half block apart, needed rides to the hospital. The first was reported unresponsive on the sidewalk. The second was reported very intoxicated inside Don Tito. In other words, business as usual in Clarendon. We are having a moment here in Arlington and much of close-in Northern Virginia, as well as DC. Very heavy rain, high winds, and lots of lightning. Many drivers pulled over on I-395. Trees down. Fire departments handling rescue assignments due to flooding, and car crashes. From my view, the most severe storm of the summer. Be careful. Wrong way driver causes large gas leak: video shows that the driver who hit the 12-inch gas line in Fairfax County this morning was on the wrong side of the road after passing Burke Center Parkway on Ox Road. The driver has non-life-threatening injuries. The significant leak caused the evacuation of an elementary school and shopping center. Traffic on Ox Road remains shut. Fairfax County Fire/Rescue and Fairfax County Police are handling. It's unclear why the person was on the wrong side of the road. #gasleak #wrongwaydriver #crash #fairfaxva FFXnow Charlie Bragale NEWS FROM THE CONCRETE Matthew Young Cordell Henry Bright

Extremely close call for firefighters: (Warning: Video shows a firefighter sustaining injuries.) In Fairfax County, VA, a utility pole collapsed onto an area where firefighters were working. It happened at a crash scene yesterday in Reston. This important safety footage is being shared in the fire service community. The outcome could have been far worse. Below are the details published yesterday by Fairfax County Fire/Rescue. On 8/25 11:31am #FCFRD responded to 2 vehicle crash at Bracknell Dr & Baron Cameron Ave in Reston w/ 1 car into pole. UPDATE BELTWAY VIOLENCE: This is earlier, not particularly clear, traffic-cam video from the attack on the Capital Beltway in the Annandale area. There are preliminary indications from multiple sources this began with a collision. The video appears to show the arrival of the first VA State Police trooper. Multiple people were stabbed and one person was shot. A spokesman says they're still working on confirming details. NEW: A family of geese, walking instead of flying, clogged I-66 westbound for more than an hour this afternoon. A Metro Transit Police K-9 officer protected them by himself for about 45 minutes. After VA State Police and ArlingtonCountyPD joined in, there appeared to be a failed effort to guide them off at the Sycamore Street exit. A second appearance of the police K-9 apparently then spooked mom and dad. From the VDOT Northern VA/ video it appears that, in the end, the kids and parents became separated. Not the happiest of endings, but not the worst. NEW: Arlington County Police now confirm that 50-year-old Aaron Queen has been arrested on a DUI charge. STATter911 has leaned that Queen is the current director of Arlington Public Schools Office of Safety, Security, and Emergency Management. He previously had a 20-year career with Arlington County Police. As you can see in the video below from 🔽🔽, an APS SUV became stuck in the snow and ice at Washington Blvd. and Wilson Blvd. in Clarendon around 7:30 p.m. People who called 911 believed the driver was possibly intoxicated. ACPD said, "Responding officers made contact with the driver, and, following their investigation, placed him under arrest for driving under the influence. The involved vehicle was an Arlington Public Schools vehicle. Aaron Queen, 50, of Arlington, VA was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence." From Arlington Public Schools: "We are aware of an incident involving an Arlington Public Schools employee who was arrested on January 25 while operating an APS vehicle. The matter is currently under review. APS takes the safety of our community seriously and is cooperating with the Arlington County Police Department (ACPD). Because this is a personnel matter, we are unable to provide additional details at this time." Queen was appointed to his post on July 1, 2023. The APS website says Queen previously served 20 years with the Arlington County Police Department. For ACPD, he had been a patrol officer, crime scene agent, community police officer, school resource officer, detective, master police officer, and a sergeant.
