When people in Washington lower their voices and say, “Please don’t use my name. I’m afraid he’ll come after my family’s livelihood,” it means something has broken. People no longer trust the law to protect them.

The administration’s scam is to point to something already illegal, pretend it’s rampant, and demand sweeping powers to “fix” it. The Cato Institute says noncitizens are not voting in detectable numbers. The Brennan Center found suspected cases at 0.0001%. This has nothing to do with evidence and is all about building machinery for voter suppression.

The administration stripped funding from PBS and NPR in the name of ending taxpayer subsidies for “biased” media. Now tax dollars may flow to OAN, tied to election conspiracy claims. Apparently “biased media” is fine when it’s their biased media.

Steven Cash warns Trump’s proposed January 6 "settlement" resembles the kind of state-funded loyalty network or private militia support system often seen under rising authoritarian regimes overseas.

Covert action isn’t supposed to target Americans. Our Executive Director, Steven Cash explains what covert action means under U.S. law, why it requires presidential authorization and congressional notification, and why the government is prohibited from secretly influencing Americans.

A judge dismissed all charges against the Broadview Six after learning prosecutors communicated with grand jurors outside the jury room, excused dissenting jurors, and redacted misconduct from transcripts. The judge said her trust in the DOJ was broken. Think about how extraordinary that is.

Judge Crenshaw told DOJ and DHS officials: stop talking about Abrego Garcia in public in ways that could poison the jury pool. Patel is a DOJ official. Calling Abrego a “convicted gang-banging rapist” on camera looks like exactly the kind of public attack the judge warned them not to make.

Taxpayer dollars Congress allocated to strengthen the Secret Service after assassination attempts on Trump are now reportedly being redirected to White House construction, including the East Wing project. Congress and taxpayers deserve the truth.

A week ago, Kash Patel told Congress that Kilmar Abrego Garcia was a “convicted gang-banging rapist.” False. Today, a federal judge dismissed the separate DOJ case against Abrego Garcia, finding the prosecution was tainted by vindictiveness and reflected an abuse of prosecutorial power. The DOJ case was about something else. But Patel’s lie tells you a lot about the climate it came from.

ICE is being redesigned. They cut its training academy from 72 to 42 days, slashed hours on the Constitution and use of force, and even removed firearms safety and protest-rights instruction. As explained in Steady State's most recent Substack article, DHS is spending 100 million on a wartime-style recruitment blitz targeted at UFC fans, gun shows, and “patriotic” podcasts. This is an intentional pipeline for ideology, not public service. Aliya Rahman’s testimony shows exactly what that produces.

The government is promoting the “rededication” of the United States to God, which collapses the line between private religion and state authority. They don’t get to define national belonging in religious terms. It’s exactly what the First Amendment was designed to prevent. #holdfast

When Vance says "the deep state took down Richard Nixon," he isn't just defending Nixon, he's attacking the idea that Congress, courts, and a free press can check a president who abuses power. The goal is to normalize presidential impunity. For Trump now. Potentially or Vance later.

Gov’t officials swear to support the Constitution. Loyalty to the President ahead of that oath enables authoritarian governance. Major General Randy Manner (Ret), explains that Hegseth’s words are that of a war criminal coming from someone who, as someone who was kicked out of the D.C. National Guard, has no qualifications to be the Secretary of Defense.
