Not gonna sit here and pretend to be an expert on the NFL’s new kickoff return rules but what I do know is that the Chargers decided to cut one of their primary special teams players in Caleb Murphy on Saturday to make space for Khalil Mack’s return. This meant that Tuli Tuipulotu, who had 0 kickoff coverage snaps on the season took Murphy’s usual place. That roster decision handed the Colts a free 7 points yesterday.

Stuff like this is why the Chargers are not a good red zone team. Herbert kills whatever the original play call was. The second call is a rub route against zone coverage with the CB very obviously sitting on it. Bad call and bad execution. Throw this ball into the stands and live to fight another day.

How do you earn more snaps as the 6th DT on the roster? By hauling to the sideline to chase down a running back, contributing to a huge TFL on third and short, and batting a pass down at the line like Naquan Jones did last night. Outstanding regular season debut for #96!

Can't get over how bad this play call on 4th and 2.5 was. Texans LB's don't buy the fake at all (as they shouldn't), Ladd and Chark are basically running the same route which essentially leaves QJ running a less than ideal route for him 1 on 1 against DEREK STINGLEY JR. as the only real option for Herbert. Disgusting work.

Last week, I think we saw Justin Herbert wear down physically due to the constant pressure. This week, we see him avoid a throw he usually makes due to the constant pressure. Third down after the Bradley Bozeman missed assignment in the first quarter, has Keenan Allen for a likely conversion. Feels the pressure from the left side and aborts. Armstrong gets the sack. These things all add up.

#Chargers HC Jim Harbaugh expands on the “block of granite” patches on the players practice jerseys. There are apparently 6 that were given out and the criteria is production and consistency based. Bonus points for players who train at an elite level or play through injury. Justin Herbert, of course, finished #1 in the block of granite rankings.

I wasn't re-watching this game vs the Ravens last year with the intention of posting some Justin Herbert pressure management clips but here we are. The ones at the 1:30 mark and 2:05 are particularly insane imo. Unfortunate the way this game ended because I feel like this was an excellent film watch for #10 imo.
