My seventh album The Harmony Codex is a real trip, a beautiful and experimental 65 minute labyrinth of a record, with almost every one of its 10 tracks taking a different musical approach.

'The Harmony Codex' is out now Of course I'm always proud of my records, but I think there's something especially magical about this one. So I'm super happy that everyone can now experience this piece of "cinema for the ears"!

Back in 1996, I worked hard on the guitar solo of Porcupine Tree's 'Dark Matter' to make it tell the right kind of “story", starting off minimal and languid, then becoming more intense and animated. Here’s me trying to remember how I played it, with some mistakes naturally!

Rob came over to film me doing some work on my next record. One of my aims with it is to create music that Artificial Intelligence could never come up, and in an age of computer recording I believe a lot of that is about keeping the humanity and flaws. And my sloppy playing!

One of my favourite albums from my catalogue is the Storm Corrosion album I made in collaboration with my friend Mikael Akerfeldt. Here I am reflecting on the album, which came out 13 years ago, meanwhile we're still talking about making a follow up!

I feel like I’ve been talking about this album for a long time without being able to share much in the way of the music, so it’s with great joy that finally I can say here we are on The Overview release day! S x Listen now:

I’m working on a setlist for next year’s The Overview Tour and plan to play music from my back catalogue that will compliment the new album, especially things I haven’t done in a while (here’s a couple I think we might do). Please let me know if you have any suggestions!

I grew up surrounded by beautifully recorded records. I fell in love with the notion of making records, rather than being a musician. I wanted to be an 'auteur', someone like Jeff Lynne (Electric Light Orchestra) producer, writer, guitar player, vocalist.

It’s been a lot of psychedelic fun revisiting one of my earliest “solo” works Voyage 34 with the SW band, here’s a clip from the lighting desk of the performance on Sunday in Santiago.

I've recently completed a spatial audio mix of one of my favourite albums Tears For Fears, 'The Seeds of Love', to be made available later this year. Here I am in 2021 talking about what to me is one of the most immersive, ambitious & beautifully produced pop records of all time.

I think it's a great myth that music stopped being ambitious in the 80's and my new 'Intrigue' compilation is an attempt to prove that creativity, experimentation and the art rock/progressive aesthetic was still very much alive and well in the decade.
