Some of the biggest artists started with covers. Some of the biggest games started as mods. A good way for independent creators to be discovered is by building on top of great IP. Programmable IP will make that even easier. You can build on top of existing IP like music, art, and even characters with clear rights and built-in attribution. For example, Verse 8 | Why Code, Just Verse 8, one of Story's eco projects, lets anyone use top crypto IPs like Moonbirds and Azuki in playable games. Similarly, Aria is running a music remix contest for legendary K-pop singer and actress NANA. Creators get distribution. Fans get access. The $80T IP class becomes liquid.

Almost 40% of short-form music today is already remixed IP. Fans remix because they love the music. Platforms distribute it because it performs. AI is already making remixing easier and more powerful. But if the system doesn't compensate original creators, we dry up the source of what makes remixing possible. Rights-cleared AI data and IP are the need of the hour.

Over 90% of software is open-source and permissionless. Anyone can fork and build with them to create net-new value. Applying this to IPs can have insane compounding effects. That's what we're enabling with Story: a transparent, decentralized, global repository of programmable, onchain IPs.
