Around eight million books were destroyed in Kharkiv yesterday. Many Ukrainians are responding by buying books from the affected publishers and from KnyhoLand, the bookstore chain that also used the warehouse. I bought these today.

My Kyiv-Lviv train was delayed by three hours. It is Ukrainian Statehood Day, marking more than 1,000 years of Ukrainian statehood, from Kyivan Rus to modern Ukraine. International delegations arrived in Kyiv by train, which may have affected the railway schedule.
