Alright who has a business they want to expand to Salt lake/Utah County in the near future? My bio: - I know how to sell (specifically B2B.) - Have grown two local niche businesses to over $200k in annual revenue in the past two years (Stump grinding and Swedish Candy.) - Have a good amount of leadership experience. - Have a solid network in Utah. - I’m hungry and have capital to start/invest. - Open to any sort of partnership structure, just want to have equity and someone I can learn a new industry from. - Looking to be in an industry that I can grow in for the long term. I have no timeline, and I don’t mind what I’m currently doing, I just believe that I’m capable of more. My DM’s are always open 🤝

Wrapped up a massive golf course job today. Jobs like these are amazing: - $7,500 in revenue - 33 stumps. - 4.5 days of work - Could come and go whenever I wanted so I fit it between other jobs I had. Considering I did $$7k all of last January, the month is looking solid!!

We did it. Our first $10K week. ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?! Finished at exactly $10,100 from 16 jobs. The crazy part? I didn’t even do jobs on Tuesday when the machine was down. The sales and networking that I did all winter is really starting to pay off. Let’s keep going 📈

What a great start to the week. Finished the day with $2,700 in revenue and was home by 3 PM. I think you’d be hard pressed to find another solo owner operator business model that can do consistent days like this. It’s not much, but it’s an honest work🤝

Great day today. $2,280 in revenue. 1 residential job rescheduled, but the city added a stump so it all evened out. The city even painted a smiley face for me on one of the stumps. Another big day scheduled tomorrow. 3 big days in a row in the winter?! Someone pinch me.

Got a call today from a guy who’s been grinding stumps longer than I’ve been alive. He owns one of the bigger stump grinding companies in Utah. We’ve chatted a few times before, but this time he wanted to sell me his business. Quick rundown: •He’s been grinding since the early 2000s. Ran a tree company before that. •Does somewhere between high $200Ks to low $300Ks in revenue. •Owns two machines. Hires a guy every summer to run one of them. •Good reviews on Google. •No employees I’d inherit. •Asking price: $450,000. I told him I’m not in a spot to buy the whole thing, but if he ever got to that point, I’d be interested in one of the grinders, a truck/trailer, and his GMB and phone number. He wasn’t thrilled with that. Said something like, “I’d hope 40 years in the industry would get me a better offer than that.” I get why he would hope that. But here’s where I’m at: •I did over $200K in my first year. •I have a great reputation with my contractors. •If he ever slows down or shuts it down, those calls are going somewhere and I’m already showing up. And if someone actually buys the thing full price? That’s a lot more debt than I have to worry about so I’ll crush them. Felt bad, but what are you going to do.

Reasons I started stump grinding: ✅ Couldn’t afford to buy a business ✅ Wanted out of my W-2 ✅ Wanted to see if I actually liked entrepreneurship (not just the idea of it) And now we did $270k in the first calendar year It’s okay to just try something and see where it goes!

June revenue: $24,380. Total costs: Around $7,200 Net profit = $17,180 Overall a great month. Not the busiest I’ve been but it felt smooth and in control for the first time ever. Mostly working 8-10 hour days in the field and no weekend work. Gotta keep pushing.

I’ve seen enough. If you enjoy doing any level of manual labor, and are mechanical (or at least willing to learn…) I think stump grinding, is one of the better side hustles out there. The bar to make an extra $5k-$10k a month during the spring/summer/fall is so low.

Alright that’s a wrap on March, here’s how it went: - March 2026: $26k in revenue. - Beat my March of 2025 by $4k - Did this while missing 6 work days. I’m successfully doing more revenue while working much less than last year which is a huge win. Let’s attack April!

You can just: - Do $11k in revenue last week. - Do $3,400 in revenue on Monday and Tuesday of this week. - Go out of town from Wed-Sat to coach the BYU lacrosse team as we play CSU and CU because I have fun doing it. - Schedule all jobs for next week when I get back. Life doesn’t need to be fully optimized. Your biz is meant to serve you. Not the other way around.
