People who advocate for the so‑called “unity of all Somali‑language speakers” are, in reality, overwhelmingly drawn from marginalized communities in eastern #Ethiopia and northern #Kenya—populations who speak #Somali but have historically been treated as second‑class citizens in those states. There is no legal system anywhere in the world that allows citizens of three separate countries to claim automatic citizenship in one of these three states simply because they share a language. This distorted interpretation is one of the most troubling and intellectually shallow arguments advanced by some of the most corrupt and least informed voices. Its real‑world outcome is visible in the forty years of state failure that #Somalia continues to endure. It is also a matter of historical record that those who carried out genocide and ethnic cleansing against people who co-found the Republic of Somalia in 1960 (#Somaliland civilians) included large numbers — an estimated 65% — from Somali‑Kenyan and Ethiopian‑Somali communities who were integrated into the former Somali military dictatorship. My response to you, Abdisalam Guled, is best captured in the words of our Queen, #AsmaDaus, who reminded us that dignity begins with truth, not with political fantasies imposed on others.

Today, while the world marks the international #Holocaust the US Congresswoman, known widely as her anti-Semitism & anti-Isreal remarks, now she stands in line with al-Shabaab, the East African terrorist group. Both Ilhan Omar Rep. Ilhan Omar & al-Shabaab opposed and vowed Jihad against the milestone sea access deal inked between #Ethiopia & #Somaliland recently. Representative Omar, by her own words, she insulted 5 million #Somalilanders after she called them inhuman, who claimed that they are Somalis.

CBS News Report from #Hargeisa — 29 May 1991 CBS News dispatched a team to Hargeisa shortly after Somaliland declared independence on 18 May 1991. Their report highlighted: 1. The Scale of Destruction in Hargeisa - CBS described Hargeisa as one of the most devastated cities they had ever filmed. - The city was referred to as “Africa’s Dresden,” emphasizing the near-total destruction caused by the Siad Barre regime’s aerial bombardments. - Entire neighborhoods were flattened, public buildings were in ruins, and basic services had collapsed. 2. The Human Toll - The report showed civilians returning to the ruins of their homes. - Families were searching for belongings, rebuilding shelters, and caring for survivors. - CBS noted the resilience of the population despite the trauma of war. ⚔️ 3. The Role of the SNM - CBS highlighted that the Somali National Movement (SNM) had taken control of the region after overthrowing Barre’s forces. - The SNM was portrayed as disciplined and welcomed by the local population. - The report emphasized that the SNM was trying to restore order and security. 4. The Declaration of #Somaliland 🏛️ - CBS explained that northern leaders had declared the restoration of the independent State of Somaliland. - The report noted that this decision was rooted in: - the atrocities committed by the Barre regime, - the collapse of the Somali state, - and the desire for self-governance and stability. 5.
