A former SNM soldier says he has never benefited from Somaliland and has completely lost trust in it after nearly 40 years. The pain and frustration are clearly visible in his body language. Somaliland has been the worst thing that has ever happened to the Ishak clan as a whole. It has brought them nothing but pain. It has flooded their communities with khat to destroy their minds, used them as proxies in wars in the eastern regions, and denied them basic human rights. Yet they continue to support it, largely because of clan supremacy. More Ishak people have been killed under the Somaliland system than under the Kacaan regime, but I guess those lives don’t matter. If anyone else had treated them this way, they would have fought back many years ago. They can clearly distinguish between good and evil, but they still choose evil simply because it is led by their own clansmen.
