jeonghan talking about when he was a teacher during his service, and it’s so endearing to hear 🥹 👼🏻: at a special school, i worked as an assistant teacher alongside the homeroom teacher so that they could conduct their classes. 👼🏻: i’d just sit beside them, and if someone needed help writing something, i’d go over and help them write 👼🏻: and then, the kids had a hard time staying seated. so i’d help them stay seated—if they kept running away, i’d go over and get them to sit back down… 👼🏻: there were also a lot of cases where they’d run off outside the school, so i had to pay really close attention to that 👼🏻: and whenever we went on field trips, i really had to make sure to keep track of everyone and check everything carefully 👼🏻: i liked it! it was really rewarding for me! 👼🏻: at first, of course, it was hard, so i talked about how i thought, ‘ah, this is pretty difficult, and i’m worried about this and that’ 👼🏻: but once i got used to it, and as I spent time with the kids, i gradually grew more attached to them 👼🏻: so i started to like it more, and when I thought about it, i also found it fun because i wondered, ‘when else am i ever going to hear someone call me teacher?’ ‘when would i ever get to hear that?’ 👼🏻: and when the kids came back having memorized my name, that made me feel so happy. they’d be like, ‘teacher yoon jeonghan’ 👼🏻: so i felt a lot of warmth while i was there. i learned a lot from them too

apparently jeonghan and joshua had a serious heart-to-heart while preparing for the unit and they both ended up feeling hurt :( 👼🏻: we had a serious conversation once... when you came to my house and we talked about things like, ‘this hurt my feelings’ & ‘that hurt my feelings’... 👼🏻: the point that had hurt shua’s feelings was, “we said we were going to do the album together, so why aren’t you working on anything, and why do you keep saying, ‘just do whatever you’re comfortable with~’ why don’t you seem interested?” i guess that was what he kept feeling hurt about. 🦌: i was kind of like, “should we go in this direction with the songs...? i think this kind of song would suit us...” i would even work on things and send them over and stuff. 👼🏻: but i was thinking, “album production should be done by professionals” like, “my ideas can be included! we can have discussions and things like that! but i’m less knowledgeable about music than they are, so wouldn’t what they bring be more professional?” so I was like, “that’s why i’m leaving the album to the professionals. but shua, i also like having your thoughts included! i’m totally fine with having a song you worked on included, i really like it.” But as time went by, shua ended up feeling like I was too uninterested. 🦌: right. so for me, if our ideas or things like that were included, it felt a little more sincere...! at the time, it seemed like there wasn’t any sincerity to me. but later, after hearing the explanation, i realized that wasn’t the case... 👼🏻: i wasn’t worried about the album! i was worried about the performances, constantly. the album will inevitably get made because we record it, go on music shows, and do all that. but for the performances, we have to give our fans a sense of satisfaction while performing on stage, you know? and i thought each unit had something different they could show on stage. coups and mingyu are good at having fun, hoshi and woozi are really good on stage, the8 and vernon have a completely different style itself... so i kept worrying about the performances more than the album! that’s why i was communicating with the company about things like, “how about doing this at this point?”, “jow about doing something cute here?”, “how about going with the concept like this?” and... 🦌: he didn’t even tell me about this! about communicating about these things! so... 👩🏻: in a way, the two of you were just in different categories...

💬: jeonghan dreamed of becoming a teacher when he was young. what did teaching mean to you during your military service? is there a memorable experience you’d like to share? 👼🏻: i worked as an assistant teacher at a specialized school for students with disabilities, and while i was working there, i kept thinking that i was really glad i had ended up at this place of service rather than being assigned somewhere else 👼🏻: at first, there were parts that were difficult because i couldn’t adjust, but as i gradually got used to it and continued helping the children by their side, i grew attached to them, and i also felt a sense of fulfillment. i also felt that being able to spend that period being addressed as ‘teacher’ was really meaningful 👼🏻: usually, when you go to work in the morning, you’re so tired, right? but some of the children would greet me, saying, ‘hello, teacher jeonghan~,’ and somehow… in that moment, i felt really rewarded, and i naturally found myself smiling. i think i especially remember those children who would greet me so warmly in the morning this is so heartwarming 🥺

🐶: i can’t travel abroad for personal trips anymore. since my military enlistment is coming up soon, i’ll only be allowed to travel overseas for official schedules. it’ll basically be work, then straight back home. other than that, i won’t be able to leave the country for personal reasons. ah... looks like i’ll probably have to watch the online stream instead. i’ve been to every member’s concert so far, so... yeah. that’s how devastated i am mingyu 😔

jeonghan shared another story of him when he was a teacher 👼🏻: also, in the continuing education curriculum, there’s a university-going process, and they all take exams for that too. they’re not exams like the ones we take, but they take exams involving handling these kinds of things. so we help them study for the exams and everything, and when they go in to take the exam, i keep looking over from beside them, wondering, “are they doing well?” and i get anxious for them... 👩🏻: like a parent watching their child take the CSAT~ 👼🏻: yeah, “ah, they have to... they have to do well there, so that they can go on to the university course too.” i actually liked feeling those kinds of things 👩🏻: of course. if you spend that much time together, how could you not grow attached to them~ 👼🏻: the friends who are the aces at school, competing for first and second place, are really smart, you know. so, well, for teachers’ day, they would write me letters and give them to me... 👼🏻: and when i’d be coming to work in the morning, they’d greet me like, “hello, teacher yoon jeonghan~” and go on their way. every time that happened, i’d smile. it made me feel good. 🦌: he posted them in our group chat too. 🦌: the letters he received, on teachers’ day 👼🏻: they even drew pictures for me... 🦌: they drew pictures for him. 👩🏻: well, unless you have an experience like that, when would you ever really get to be called something like “teacher”
