MEDIA STATEMENT DEPUTY MINISTER OF PUBLIC WORKS AND INFRASTRUCTURE, SIHLE ZIKALALA PRESENTS BRIDGE HANDOVER PROGRAMME TO HIS MAJESTY KING MISUZULU KAZWELITHINI The Office of His Majesty King Misuzulu kaZwelithini confirms that Mr Sihle Zikalala is the Deputy Minister of Department Of Public Works and Infrastructure accompanied by his delegation, paid a courtesy visit to His Majesty at KwaKhangelamankengane Royal Palace. The purpose of the visit was to formally present a programme for the handover of several bridges constructed through a collaborative initiative between the Department of Transport and the Department of Public Works. These infrastructure projects were initiated during the reign of the late His Majesty King Goodwill Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu to improve access and connectivity for rural communities and have now reached completion, making them ready for official handover. During the engagement, the Deputy Minister briefed His Majesty on the progress of the projects and the planned handover programme. The visit also reaffirmed the strong partnership between government and the Zulu Kingdom in advancing development that directly benefits communities. In keeping with longstanding African and Zulu custom, Deputy Minister Zikalala presented cattle to His Majesty as a gesture of respect, gratitude and goodwill. The presentation symbolised the enduring relationship between the Government and the Zulu Throne, as well as a shared commitment to serving the people. His Majesty welcomed the completion of the bridges and expressed his appreciation for government's continued investment in rural infrastructure, noting that such projects improve safety, enhance access to essential services, and contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of communities across the Kingdom.
