That Guehi shift at centre-back was a brutal one. Olmo is possibly one of the worst players you can potentially man-mark in that position. Dragged him everywhere. So many decisions to make as the centre-back who always stepped out.

An animation is in the next post of this Vincent Kompany rondo practice.

These PSG forwards pressing 💪

Mega thread on Chelsea v PSG (Part 1) Part 1 - Chelsea Out of Possession Before we cover tactics, it's essential to appreciate the energy and intensity Chelsea brought to the final. The success they had in the first 10 minutes fed that energy

Where my frustration lies with Arsenal. Arteta has so much right. These moments are the difference though. They break line one, break line two and then slow the tempo.

Dembele leading the press as a loan striker, dictating Liverpool's play and allowing his wide players to jump.

Chelsea's 1-5-2-3 leaves the midfielders a lot of ground to cover, as the defenders' jumping is still a work in progress. That front three (backed by Neto) is deadly, though.

England Pressing v Denmark - heavily outnumbered in advanced positions - duel roles for Saka, Foden and Bellingham - lack of pressing support from Rice and Trent - large distances to cover to get pressure on the ball

Man City technical work, including pattern play consistently worked on this under Pep.

The 'Rest Defence': What is it and why is it so important? It refers to an attacking team’s structure, below and around the ball, when in possession. Here's a breakdown: 🧵

3-1-3-3 against the 4-4-2. Asks questions that England didn't answer for the 3rd goal. We covered the game in our latest class. Lots to like about England and Spain are wonderful to watch on a tactical level.

The level of concentration needed for each defender has never been higher with the movement at the top level. ⬇️

Spot the difference. The delay is crucial (Madueke) We are jumping on a live class in less than one hour to discuss the Arsenal press, how Silva and Rodri tried to manipulate it and the roles of Odegaard, Madueke and Zubimendi in particular.

Chelsea's gaping hole in the centre of the pitch needs to be resolved. Caicedo will help.

Maresca's style focuses a lot on playing through. Jackson doesn't offer the same link-up play capability as Delap. These scenarios will allow for Delap to join the central build-up, and the wide players need to provide the beyond option.

Arsenal 2.11 xG. Chelsea 0.35. The game was a lot closer than that. Free live class tomorrow, 10am UK time - The midfield 3v2 James and Lavia could not solve - Calafiori stepping inside - Acheampong advancing, and Arsenal countering into the space behind him Open to everyone.

Amorim’s 3-4-3 was tested last night against a well-coached Newcastle side that dismantled the structure in the first 30 minutes of the game. Tactical thread 🧵(Rated 18 for Man United fans) Animations of the systems and the related performance problems.

The Hull compact 1-5-2-3. Really impressive shape with clear roles and responsibilities. Looking to force play inside and win the ball.
