CM Vijay inspected the Perur water desalination plant in ECR today. The ₹5,814 crore project is one of the city’s largest infrastructure projects, with construction began in 2023 & is expected to be commissioned by the year-end. Once operational, the 400 million litres per day (MLD) facility will be South East Asia’s largest desalination plant, and supply drinking water to more than 22 lakh people across Chennai and its suburbs. Additionally large pipelines (~1.8-2m) are also being laid, connecting the plant to various reservoirs in the city including the 59 km long pipeline between Perur - Porur. #TamilNaduInfra

Tambaram gets a small campus of Madras Medical College! Built as an isolation ward for international air passengers during COVID, the building has been repurposed as a Centre for Hospice Care as a part of Madras Medical College, at a cost of ₹30.16 crore. The 180-bedded Centre for Hospice Care for terminally-ill cancer patients was inaugurated in February. The centre has facilities to provide care for 300 to 400 cancer patients every year, providing end-of-life care, pain management, counselling, and psychosocial support & palliative care for patients. The facility includes an outpatient department, 16-bed Intensive Care Unit, 134 general ward beds & 30 pay ward beds. #TamilNaduInfra
