Former President George H.W. Bush chose Texas A&M as the home of his presidential library, creating a connection to Aggieland that continues today. The library grounds at Texas A&M are home to the 4141, a Union Pacific locomotive that carried President Bush to his final resting place and now stands as a symbol of his life of service, continuing to inspire Aggies, visitors and schoolchildren who experience his legacy at the museum. Hayden Schott '25 visits with Alice Yates '99, Chief Executive Officer of the George & Barbara Bush Foundation, to learn about that legacy. Learn more:

Before he was president, George H.W. Bush was among the nation’s youngest naval aviators during World War II, risking his life in service to his country. He held a deep respect for the values embodied by TAMU Corps of Cadets, recognizing a shared commitment to service, humility, duty and character. The Corps, in turn, inducted him into its Hall of Honor, a rare distinction for someone who did not serve as a Corps member. Hayden Schott ’25 met with Texas A&M Corps of Cadets Commandant Chip Bierman to discuss that lasting connection. Learn more:

He kept an apartment on the Texas A&M campus and was a familiar face at Blue Bell Park, whether throwing out a ceremonial first pitch or cheering from the stands alongside former First Lady Barbara Bush. Bush brought the same enthusiasm to Aggie athletics that he brought to every aspect of his life. A Yale first baseman who made Texas A&M home, Bush shares a connection with Hayden Schott '25, an Ivy League ballplayer turned Aggie who knows exactly what it feels like to find where you belong. A student “Hail Mary” DM to Beast Philanthropy turned into support for clinics for Texas, Massachusetts, Kenya, Nigeria and Ukraine. BUILD, a Texas A&M student organization, converts 40-foot shipping containers into fully functional Texas Aggie Medical and Veterinary Clinics. Today, more than 20,000 Aggie volunteers have built 60 clinics, providing health care access to over 200,000 people in 24 countries. Learn more: #TAMU #SelflessService #AggieImpact
