In August 1944, The Coldstream Guards captured a Panther in Holland. Painted with white Allied recognition stars & named ‘Cuckoo’, the tank was used against its’ former owners. Footage courtesy of British Pathé 🔗See inside a Panther tank for yourself:

This is the Praying Mantis, a bizarre and unique British prototype from WWII. The vehicle was difficult to control, and induced sickness in the crew(!) - the plan was therefore abandoned in 1944. The sole surviving example is part of our collection, here at The Tank Museum.

The 'Black Sea' Stug. Sunk on a German ship off the coast of Sevastopol, and recovered in the early 2000's - this vehicle was immaculately restored by The The Weald Foundation , & made its running debut at TANKFEST 2009. TANKFEST 2026 tickets now available!

🗓️ 5 May 1917: The St-Chamond tank makes its combat debut in an attack at the Moulin de Laffaux. It mounted a 75mm howitzer in the nose plus 4 machine guns. Shown is the sole surviving example - part of the Musée des Blindés collection - which visited us for TANKFEST 2017

Captured in April 1945, a King Tiger undergoes wading trials at the Haustenbeck testing ground. In Aug 1947, it was on the receiving end of some rather large 6.5" HESH trials - it likely the tank did not survive these... For more on the King Tiger -
