She's already been up on the couch taking a nap. She took a huge poop at the shelter before our long ride home today, but managed to take an even bigger dump in my truck. Luckily I am prepared for such contingencies. Such a gentle, sweet dog. There's a little bit of drama between her and Big Molly, but they'll work it out.

My surgery went well yesterday - thank you everyone for all the kind words and prayers. I know this corner of ours means it when they say it. Lotta pain, but that's to be expected. Now lemme put a smile on your face: We've done this so many times with old shelter dogs, and the pattern is almost always the same - when they get here, they're usually nervous and quiet; unsure of what is in store and what their life is gonna be like. After being here with me, OBX Dog Walker and the rest of the dogs, they start to relax and be the dog they wanna be; the dog they were or could have been before they were abandoned. Molly was so quiet and reserved when we got her, and now? Yeah. She's right at home, letting me know I need to get off my ass and feed her. Love to see it. And I'm grateful to all of you.

Got some sad news - Annie, the old gal we adopted a year and a half ago at the same time I got Aunt Bea - has cancer. She's probably close to 14. My friend and veterinarian says it's not worth trying to treat, since it's all in her snout and mouth. If I showed you the inside of her mouth you'd be grossed out. I have to clean the discharge from her eyes everyday since her lacrimal ducts are affected. She's still eating, drinking, pooping and peeing well. That's a good sign. Don't know how long we'll have her, but it doesn't matter. We walk the beach every day and breathe in the ocean air. She will be loved and cared for up until the very end. That's all we can do.

You guys know me and OBX Dog Walker only adopt old dogs. I'm in Southern Pines, NC working and this beautiful dog was brought into a vet's office I was at. Wandering on a golf course. So friendly. No chip, no collar. The last few days we've put notices out everywhere and nobody is claiming him. He's obviously been well cared for to this point. He's good with other dogs, cats and people. A gentle giant probably a year old. This video doesn't do him justice. Text or DM me if you're interested.

Got this stinky old lady from the shelter last night. Gave her a bath - really gentle and sweet. I think she might be a little deaf like me. I suspect some other health problems, but I don't care. Every little thing gonna be alright now.

Said goodbye to Larry exactly a year ago today. I adopted him right after my Dad died and he really helped me focus on something other than my sadness. He was a gentle giant - relaxed around other dogs, very sweet with children that would come up to pet him - he put a smile on everyone's face. Yes, I only had him for the last few years of his life; but man, we had a good run and I loved sharing him with all of you.
