Over 30 children were rushed to Edo specialist hospital in Benin city today after they were tear-gassed by men of the Edo state police force at ogbe stadium Benin city during children's day celebration. One child is currently at the ICU. The same Nigerian police force who cannot rescue our children from bandits is throwing tear gas at the ones celebrating. Nigeria is indeed a crime scene.😓

The Edo state government received the first female Neurosurgeon in Edo and Delta state Dr Igwe Eki-Udoko. Congratulations to her and the Husband, seeing him smiling in that video melts my heart, further buttressing my point of marrying a kind partner. Those who have passed through him will attest to the fact that he is a kind paediatrician who is both patient and student focus. Congratulations!!!!

Two things are common among all quacks pretending be to be doctors 1-They are all trained by professional doctors 2-They don't even know the severity of their crime. Just look at this quack trained by Dr Uzoma to run his hospital for him in Rivers state I can confidently tell you, that Dr Uzoma is no longer Nigeria, he might have Japa with the family to Canada. MDCN needs to start withdrawing the licenses of doctors training quacks in their facility.

It is legally wrong to tell final year medical students to pay 7th year school fees for a 6 years course. The management of the college of medicine university of Nigeria Nsukka should do better, you have not only delayed the dreams of these medical students but also put extra financial burden on their parents and now you want them to pay an extra school fee for a delay that isn't their fault? What is our medical school turning into? We are yet to finish from uni-ilorin and now UNN wants to start their own? Nigerian Doctor OurFaveOnlineDoc 🇬🇧 🇳🇬

So the solution to doctors exodus from the country by Dr. Tunji Alausa,the minister of education and a Nephrologist is for our education system to churn out more MBBS graduates, no wonder they increased quotas without any significant upgrades in infrastructures or employing more lecturers/consultants. He forgot that he is an MBBS graduate from UNILAG who ran abroad, the US to be specific for his residency training after receiving subsided medical training in Nigeria using tax payers money. According to his mathematics, if we produce 100,000 and 50% leaves the country we will still have 50,000 doctors left in the country. One thing is certain, if he couldn't stay back in the country to receive his residency training as far back early 2000 when Nigeria economy was good and doctors had good purchasing power, then I wonder the lore behind his confidence that 50% will stay back and not less than 10%. Doctors are leaving because of the poor pay, burn out, insecurity and poor social welfare, until we address these pressing needs, doctors would leave the country at the slightest opportunity.

A consultant orthopaedic surgeon came to review a patient in my facility and said something casually to a general surgeon who came to review another patient. "I don't understand what is going on, this generation of young doctors are no longer interested in the art of medicine, it wasn't like this during our time" I think I have an answer now " A doctor/healthcare workers burdened with survival cannot fully devote themselves to healing" Medicine is a career path with ethics and should not be solely treated as a call to serve humanity on an empty stomach. We are not wiser than our founding fathers.
