I was listening to the cast and crew commentary on ALIENS the other night and all Lance Henriksen says at this part is "Look at that shit". Why did they ever stop lighting movies like this.

The shot of the T-Rex wrecking a bus in THE LOST WORLD is a perfect mix of practical stunts (a real bus rigged to implode at the point of impact as the stunt performers are blown out the other side) and ILM's incredible CG work. Not to mention that beautiful night lighting.

For their faults the Michael Bay Transformers movies had a level of spectacle you just simply don't see in the majority of blockbusters now. Like look at this it holds up so unbelievably well in an era where every other popcorn movie ends with people fighting in a grey void.

Remember when they did this to TJ Miller lmao

There's a great scene in Rain Man where Tom Cruise does exactly this.

I love that little march as they fly over the truck, a really great score.

How it looks in the movie. Look at how detailed that puppet is. Special effects crews are actual wizards man.

Say what you want about it's issues story wise but it has moments like this where ILM, John Williams and Ben Burtt all collectively go God Mode in it.

Really underrated John Williams score is JFK, the "conspiracy" track is the one most remembered but I love how the music builds throughout this sequence.

It might be, like in this scene scene ok so those are real dinosaurs right?

Probably John Williams finest hour as far as Star Wars music goes, that choral piece is incredible.

Or like here where the mounted guns the military are using sound dwarfed by Blackout's gunfire.

It's early Summer 1996, you're at the movies sitting with a packed audience still munching away on your popcorn. This comes blaring out of the speakers. Life is great.

Like here, which is a really fun use of the theme.

Some of the best miniature work you'll ever see in this. Astonishing stuff.

DANTE'S PEAK (1997) Small town being invaded/destroyed by something is a trope I never get sick of and this is a great one. Look at that shot showing all the town extras.

They should do something like this on The Pitt just to send "the fandom" into a death spiral.

Was watching THE FUGITIVE as one does and always love how alive this scene feels. I know I'm forever harping on about how movies don't look like movies anymore and it's because well...they don't.

It's been 46 years and the shot of the Millennium Falcon spiralling through frame towards the camera is still one of the coolest moments in #StarWars

If I was whoever edited this trailer for CON AIR I'd be bragging about it for the rest of my life.

Play this scene to a room full of dudes and you'll hear a pin drop.
