Jensen traces Taiwan's chip dominance back to an unlikely source: Philips, the Dutch consumer electronics giant he calls "the GE of Europe." Philips, he says, is "the parent company that spun the fab that became TSMC, and spun off the semiconductor manufacturing equipment that became ASML." The seed was planted in the 1950s by K.T. Li, who set out to bring science and technology manufacturing to Taiwan and lured Philips over. Then came perfect timing with the PC revolution: IBM opened the specs for IBM compatible chipsets, and Taiwanese engineers took that open spec and designed the chipsets "manufactured at TSMC and UMC." That is what made the PC industry possible. A young Michael Dell just "bought motherboards from Taiwan, assembled them into a PC," and became a PC maker. Jensen Huang on Lex Fridman

David Sacks on All In: payback period as the Northstar metric for AI infrastructure. CoreWeave says typical five year deals deliver about 2.5 years payback. SpaceX pays back in roughly one year because it monetizes around $50B per gigawatt while CoreWeave sits near $20B per gigawatt. SpaceX gets effectively spot pricing on 90 day cancelable deals, while CoreWeave locked five year contracts at older prices and spot compute moved way up on scarcity and demand. As long as payback stays short, the economics are nearly unlosable and debt rolls fast. The warning signal is payback stretching out, which implies demand softening, spot falling, or execution delays.

David Sacks pushes back against the prevailing narratives, arguing that CoreWeave’s sharp spike in bond yields and stock selloff reflect market volatility driven by bets on multi-trillion-dollar AI outcomes and exponential growth, rather than a fundamental collapse in demand. He breaks down these narratives one by one. The key to understanding CoreWeave’s credit risk is that the creditworthiness of its long-term contract customers matters far more.

"NVDA gone from $150 to $800 I was long-term in it, and I couldn't deal with it, so I sold. Then it was $1,400 like 5 weeks later, and I was sick. It's amazing how little I knew about Nvidia. I couldn't even tell you what the earnings were." - Druckenmiller

Jensen on ASIC: I worked for the original company LSI Logic who invented the idea of ASIC. As you know LSI Logic is not here anymore, right? When the market size is not very large, it's easy to have somebody uh be a contractor to help you put the packaging of all that stuff together and do the manufacturing on your behalf and they charge you 50 60 points of margin. But when the market gets large for an ASIC, there's a new way of doing things called COT, customer owned tooling.
