Thanks for the tag JDM TIMBER FOLLOW FOR MORE TAG WHEN NEEDED. Here are The Facts: Tragic Strongsville Crash Claims Two Young Lives as Teen Deliberately Causes Fatal Wreck Convicted: Mackenzie Shirilla; Victims: Davion Flanagan, Dominic Russo Crash on July 31, 2022; Appeal denied on April 30, 2025 Progress and Alameda Drives, Strongsville, Ohio Facts: On July 31, 2022, at approximately 6:15 a.m., Mackenzie Shirilla, then 17, intentionally drove her Toyota Camry at 100 mph into a brick building in Strongsville’s Progress Drive Business Park. The crash killed her boyfriend, Dominic Russo, 20, and friend Davion Flanagan, 19, who were pronounced dead at the scene after being extricated from the vehicle. Shirilla, who was injured and flown to MetroHealth in Cleveland, survived the crash. Prosecutors established that Shirilla deliberately accelerated without braking, motivated by a toxic relationship with Russo, supported by surveillance video, car data showing full throttle, and evidence of prior threats. On November 4, 2022, Shirilla was arrested and charged with four counts of murder, four counts of felonious assault, two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide, drug possession, and possessing criminal tools. On August 14, 2023, Cuyahoga County Judge Nancy Margaret Russo found Shirilla guilty on all counts, stating, “This was not reckless driving. This was murder.” On August 21, 2023, Shirilla was sentenced to two concurrent life sentences with a minimum of 15 years before parole eligibility, and her driver’s license was permanently suspended. Psilocybin mushrooms and a digital scale were found in Shirilla’s possession post-crash, though she was not charged with driving under the influence. The Eighth District Court of Appeals upheld her conviction in September 2024, and the Ohio Supreme Court denied her appeal on April 30, 2025, citing an untimely filing. Shirilla expressed remorse at sentencing, saying, “I’m so deeply sorry,” but prosecutors noted a lack of remorse, citing post-crash social media activity and comments about her license.

Let’s Drop Some Facts on This 🤙🏽 Bodycam Attached ⬇️ Thanks for the tag JJBOOM Summerville Police Release Edited Bodycam Footage of 13-Year-Old’s Controversial Arrest at Walmart, Attorney Alleges Excessive Force April 1, 2024 Summerville, South Carolina, Walmart on North Main Street Facts On April 1, 2024, Summerville Police officers responded to complaints about individuals loitering and selling Palmetto roses at the Walmart on North Main Street. Officers Dante Ghi and Sgt. Katherine Kirkland used their patrol car’s PA system to ask a 13-year-old boy and another individual to leave; the boy refused and began cursing. Bodycam footage, released edited on April 4, 2024, and uncut on April 5, 2024, shows Officer Ghi aggressively approaching the boy, demanding ID, and threatening jail, escalating the situation. Police claim the boy punched Sgt. Kirkland in the face with a closed fist, injuring her eye; Attorney Marvin Pendarvis disputes clear evidence of this, alleging Officer Ghi was the aggressor. Officers restrained the boy, pinning him to the ground with pressure on his neck, which Pendarvis calls excessive force, claiming Ghi slammed the boy’s head into the ground while handcuffed. The boy was charged with violating Town Code 16-01 (assaulting an officer in official duties), reduced from initial third-degree assault and battery, and released to his mother. Sgt. Kirkland was treated by EMS for an eye injury; police say the boy was not injured, but Pendarvis claims he suffered physical and emotional trauma. Pendarvis, representing the family, criticized the edited footage as misleading, demanding a full investigation into Officer Ghi’s conduct and the release of unedited video while protecting the boy’s identity. Summerville Police Chief Douglas Wright acknowledged the footage’s “bad look,” requested an independent investigation by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), and committed to reviewing protocols. Town spokesman Christopher Makowski defended the footage release, stating it refutes “untruthful statements” and ensures public access to facts, a common practice in law enforcement. On August 28, 2024, Ninth Circuit Solicitor Scarlet Wilson cleared Ghi and Kirkland of criminal wrongdoing, citing probable cause for arrest due to the boy’s resistance and ordinance violation. SLED and SPD’s internal review also cleared the officers; Chief Wright praised Ghi and Kirkland as “tremendous police officers.” Officer Ghi has a history of disciplinary issues: fired from Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office in 2002 for excessive force and resigned from North Charleston Police in 2018 during a policy violation investigation, joining Summerville 17 days later. Sgt. Kirkland has served with North Charleston and Summerville Police, with no reported disciplinary issues in this context. The incident sparked public outrage, with a Charleston Black Lives Matter protest on April 6, 2024, demanding Ghi’s termination, and community concerns about over-policing rose vendors. Pendarvis called for addressing the “over-criminalization” of young African American rose peddlers, advocating for policy reevaluation and community dialogue. Cellphone video of the arrest shared widely on social media amplified public scrutiny and questions about police conduct.
