AL JAZEERA'S INTERVIEW WITH CHINESE TYCOON SHE ZHIJIANG EXPOSED ALICE GUO AS AN ALLEGED CHINESE SPY In a stunning interview with Al Jazeera English (Sept 27, 2024), detained Chinese tycoon She Zhijiang revealed his secret past as an operative for Chinese intelligence. Now imprisoned in Thailand, She disclosed explosive details about a covert Chinese espionage network linked to his illegal businesses in Southeast Asia. 1️⃣ She Zhijiang is a well-known businessman and casino magnate with deep ties to online gambling and human trafficking activities across Southeast Asia. His businesses, particularly in Cambodia, Myanmar, and the Philippines, were allegedly used as fronts for illegal operations like online scam networks, forced labor, and human trafficking. 2️⃣ These activities were part of the Belt and Road Initiative, where She was purportedly involved in secret projects using infrastructure to cover up illicit dealings. He allegedly exploited loopholes and weak legal frameworks in developing countries to succeed in his operations. 3️⃣ She admitted that he was a Chinese spy working for China’s Ministry of State Security. He used his businesses to gather intelligence and strengthen China’s influence in the region. 4️⃣ When he was arrested in Thailand, She feared that China planned to silence him to prevent the release of sensitive information. This fear led him to publicly disclose his connection to China’s intelligence apparatus and implicate Alice Guo in the process. 5️⃣ She accused Alice Guo, also known as Guo Huaping in his records, of being a fellow operative for China’s state security. He claimed that Guo was also involved in espionage activities. He further revealed that Guo allegedly asked him for campaign funds when she ran for mayor in Bamban, Tarlac. However, She refrained from providing the funds as he didn’t want to offend the Philippine government. 6️⃣ She warned Guo to come forward with the truth, as he feared she might face the same fate—potentially being silenced by Chinese authorities. 7️⃣ She’s revelations have cast doubt on Guo’s background and connections, suggesting that her political career might have been backed by Chinese intelligence operations. If true, this raises concerns of possible foreign interference by China in the Philippines.
