It’s time we say goodbye to Chloe Cheung 張晞晴 as she wraps up her final day as CFHK Foundation’s public affairs and advocacy manager. It’s been quite a run. After Hong Kong police placed a bounty on her head on Christmas Eve 2024, she answered with a message that summed up her courage and determination: “Fear cannot restrain me. Suppression cannot silence me.” This week, we sat down with Chloe to reflect on her time at the CFHK Foundation, her advocacy journey, and her beloved cat, Cat Cat.

Seven years ago, Hong Kong citizens were attacked by a group of men dressed in white and armed with batons inside Yuen Long MTR station. At least 45 people were injured, while police just stood by and allowed the violence to happen. The attackers were later reported to have links to the notorious 14K triad. Now, some of those same networks appear to have resurfaced in the U.K. Evidence presented during the HKETO spying trial included discussions about involving the 14K triad in similar attacks against Hong Kong activists in Britain. If triads, Hong Kong police, and their Beijing-backed networks can coordinate across borders, can anywhere truly be safe for Hong Kong activists in exile?

🚨June 12, 2026 — Just another day in Chinese Communist Party-controlled Hong Kong, the streets empty of protests. But millions of Hong Kongers, at home and in exile, will be thinking about the movement and the struggle for their city's future. And while the streets are quiet seven years on, the struggle for democracy is far from over. Today, we remember the courage of the Hong Kongers who marched for freedom and autonomy from China in 2019.

Today, a kangaroo court in Hong Kong found publisher Jimmy Lai guilty in its first-ever “collusion with foreign forces” trial under Beijing’s National Security Law for meetings and editorials calling for support for Hong Kong. Jimmy Lai is 78, a British citizen, and has already spent over 1,800 days in prison, mostly in solitary confinement. He is guilty only of believing Hong Kong people deserve freedom. If governments say they stand for press freedom and the rule of law, this is the moment to prove it, says Frances Hui 許穎婷 #JimmyLai #HongKong #PressFreedom #HumanRights #FreeJimmyLai #NationalSecurityLaw #PoliticalPrisoner #FrancesHui

6 years ago today: here's how the #YuenLongAttack unfolded. It wasn’t just thugs with rods, it was state-enabled terror against innocent protesters. A night when the #HongKong police abandoned their duty & their dignity but #HK reporters like #GwynethHo showed the value of #PressFreedom by reporting the truth of what took place. #NeverForgiveNeverForget

On #InternationalWomensDay, Frances Hui 許穎婷 honors 黃子悅 Prince Wong—an activist & political prisoner who embodies HK’s fight for democracy. She’s serving 7.5+ years for standing up for justice—one of many women jailed for resisting CCP rule. We won’t forget them. #FreePoliticalPrisoners #WomenEmpowerment #IWD2025
