It is honestly f*cking baffling that Mayor Bass made a polished video documenting the city’s failure to fix a pothole, as though watching the bureaucracy encounter an obstacle should reassure anyone. Meanwhile, Mayor Mamdani understands the fundamental rule of civic leadership: don’t ask people to applaud the attempt. Show them the fountain running. Hand to God, it’s not rocket science y’all.

I’m starting to think he might have a point about terrorists. It was never the act. It’s about whose side it lands on.

The “Peter Thiel is fleeing America” story is so unserious. Fleeing what? His protégé is vice president, his companies feed on government contracts, and his politics are already sitting in the room. This is not a man running from the state; this is a man shopping for the next state to optimize. Call it what it is: post-democracy expansion.

I gotta say, I’m not a huge fan of Trump meeting Xi face-to-face again less than five months later… especially while China is tightening exit controls at home and rapidly expanding funeral and cremation infrastructure. The relationship is clearly much more active at the top than the public anti-China rhetoric makes it sound. Xi is due in Washington on September 24.

“We are very very close to being able to ignore Trump most nights. I truly can’t wait. I hate him passionately.” He continued: “What he’s good at is destroying things. He’s the undisputed world champion of that.” — Tucker Carlson, Jan 4 2021 “…and I want to say I’m sorry for misleading people, and it was not intentional.” — Tucker Carlson April 20, 2026

Part of what makes Tucker so compelling is that he’s genuinely skilled at seeing through other people. But exposing someone else’s dishonesty is not the same as being willing to confront your own, and there can be no real growth until that confrontation happens. By shifting responsibility for his choices onto someone else, he gets to perform the part of a changed man without fully reckoning with the man he was. He’s hoping the performance will be enough to persuade you that transformation has already begun. That’s why discernment matters most when someone’s charisma, talent, and message are telling you exactly what you want to believe. Those are the moments when it’s easiest to mistake someone’s ability to see through others for a willingness to see themselves clearly.
