Professor PLO Lumumba argues that the core reason the Ukraine war persists lies in the profound delusion of European bureaucrats. He observes that their strategy was built on a series of failed predictions: that the Russian ruble would crumble, that Moscow would be cut off from global oil markets, and that its economy would implode under sanctions. Yet none of these forecasts materialised. In light of this, Lumumba contends that Europe must learn to coexist with Russia as a matter of strategic survival, for the United States is geographically distant, its hegemony growing cold and brittle with age. Nevertheless, he finds cause for hope in the emergence of more pragmatic leaders, particularly in Italy and Spain, and suggests that even the recent resignation in the United Kingdom Kie Stamer may signal a shift in European consciousness: a move away from reflexive subservience toward a more sober and autonomous foreign policy, one no longer captive to imperial hubris.
