Once again thinking about the extremely sick behind cover shotgun-on-a-rope yo-yo trick Chow Yun-fat pulls in Lau Kar-leung's Tiger on the Beat (1988). Would likely be the most memorable action beat in a setpiece that didn't also feature a Gordon Liu swashbuckling chainsaw fight.

Watched Martin Campbell's HBO TV movie called Cast a Deadly Spell, a 90s hard-boiled film noir pastiche set in an alternate dark fantasy occult-horror LA. Here's the scene of Fred Ward's Detective Phil Lovecraft stealing the Necronomicon from a gargoyle & kicking him in the nuts.
