BREAKING NEWS … Namibian renowned gospel artist Naftalie Amukwelele, popularly known as D-Naff, was arrested on multiple charges of fraud in Windhoek on Friday. Amukwelele was charged at the Windhoek Police Station before being taken to the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court, where he was granted bail of N$5 000. The popular singer and motivational speaker faces six charges – three counts of forgery and three counts of uttering forged documents. Magistrate Jurina Hochobes presided over the proceedings. CHEATING DEATH ... The suspect who escaped from Rundu Police Station on Wednesday survived after jumping off a building at the town. He escaped from the station's holding cells earlier in the day after allegedly falling ill and asking to be taken to a hospital. According to reports, the suspect got onto the roof of buildings at Rundu Complex at the New Mall area. Rundu station commander inspector Hermine Muranda confirmed that the police are at the scene. CULPABLE HOMICIDE … A man lost his life in the early hours of Thursday after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Hosea Kutako Drive in Windhoek. The police allege that the pedestrian was hit by a silver sedan and subsequently run over by another vehicle. Both drivers reportedly fled the scene. The 27-year-old driver of the silver sedan was later arrested in Katutura. He was tested for alcohol and recorded a level of 0.18%, national police spokesperson deputy commissioner Kauna Shikwambi has confirmed.
