A simple look at how these games are handled at Hampden tells you everything. There is always a clear perimeter of stewards and police behind both goals to prevent fans spilling onto the pitch. So the obvious question is why wasn’t that in place yesterday? It suggests Rangers had a serious stewarding issue and didn’t have the required numbers in place. Whether that was poor planning or an attempt to cut costs on staffing, it ultimately left travelling supporters without the level of safety and control you’d expect at a high-risk fixture like this. For that reason alone, Rangers should be facing serious questions from the authorities. The SPFL or the SFA need to look at this properly because clubs have a responsibility to ensure the safety of supporters inside their stadium. If they failed to provide the appropriate stewarding and policing structure, then there has to be consequences. 🍀

Next up domestically for Celtic is a trip to Ibrox. Celtic’s last league win in this fixture came in September 2024 when we ran out 3-0 winners at Celtic Park but you have to go back to September 2023 for the last time we won at Ibrox. Given everything that’s going on right now on and off the pitch, this is exactly the kind of game that can reset the tone heading into the business end of the season. Now is the time to change that. No divisions. No infighting. Just back the team as one and give them everything. All together. 🍀
